لهث يلهث لهثا . قال الله تعالى: فمثله كمثل الكلب إن تحمل عليه يلهث أو تتركه يلهث [الأعراف/ 176] وهو أن يدلع لسانه من العطش. قال ابن دريد: اللهث يقال للإعياء وللعطش جميعا .

"Lehese - yelhesü - lehsen" (soludu, solur, soluma). Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Onun durumu şu köpeğin durumu gibidir: Üstüne varsan da dilini sarkıtıp solur, kendi haline bıraksan da dilini sarkıtıp solur" [7:176]. Bu, susuzluktan dilini dışarı çıkarmasıdır. İbn Düreyd dedi ki: "el-Lehs" (اللهث), hem yorgunluk/bitkinlik hem de susuzluk için, ikisi birlikte kullanılır.
