قال تعالى: إنه لقول فصل وما هو بالهزل [الطارق/ 13- 14] الهزل: كل كلام لا تحصيل له، ولا ريع تشبيها بالهزال.

Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Şüphesiz o, (hak ile batılı) ayıran kesin bir sözdür; o, bir şaka (boş söz) değildir" [86:13, 86:14]. el-Hezl: kendisinde hiçbir netice (elde ediş) ve hiçbir verim bulunmayan her sözdür; bu, (bedensel zayıflık ve cılızlık anlamındaki) "hüzâl" kelimesine benzetilerek (böyle adlandırılmıştır).
