الأفول: غيبوبة النيرات كالقمر والنجوم، قال تعالى: فلما أفل قال لا أحب الآفلين [الأنعام/ 78]، وقال: فلما أفلت [الأنعام/ 76]، والإفال : صغار الغنم، والأفيل: الفصيل الضئيل.

el-Ufûl (batış): Ay ve yıldızlar gibi ışık saçan cisimlerin gözden kaybolması/yitmesidir. Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Batınca 'Ben batanları sevmem' dedi" [6:78]; yine buyurdu: "Batınca" [6:76]. el-İfâl: küçük davarlar (koyun-keçi yavruları). el-Efîl: cılız, zayıf deve yavrusu (fasîl).
