قال الله تعالى: فثبطهم وقيل اقعدوا مع القاعدين [التوبة/ 46]، حبسهم وشغلهم، يقال: ثبطه المرض وأثبطه: إذا حبسه ومنعه ولم يكد يفارقه.

Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Böylece (Allah) onları alıkoydu ve: Oturanlarla beraber oturun, denildi" [9:46]; yani onları alıkoydu (tuttu) ve meşgul etti. Denir ki: "Hastalık onu alıkoydu (sebbetahu'l-marad) ve esbetahu" — yani onu tutup engelledi ve neredeyse ondan hiç ayrılmadı (yakasını bırakmadı).
