الرتل: اتساق الشيء وانتظامه على استقامة، يقال: رجل رتل الأسنان، والترتيل: إرسال الكلمة من الفم بسهولة واستقامة. قال تعالى: ورتل القرآن ترتيلا [المزمل/ 4]، ورتلناه ترتيلا [الفرقان/ 32].

"er-Retl": bir şeyin düzgünlük üzere uyumlu ve düzenli olmasıdır. "Recülün retilü'l-esnân" (dişleri düzgün dizili adam) denir. "et-Tertîl": kelimeyi ağızdan kolaylıkla ve düzgünce çıkarmaktır. Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Kur'an'ı tertîl ile (ağır ağır ve düzgünce) oku" [73:4], "Ve onu tertîl ile [belli bir düzen içinde] okuduk/düzenledik" [25:32].
