السرمد: الدائم، قال تعالى: قل أرأيتم إن جعل الله عليكم الليل سرمدا [القصص/ 71]، وبعده: النهار سرمدا [القصص/ 72].

es-Sermed: sürekli, kesintisiz (daim) olan. Allah Teâlâ şöyle buyurdu: "De ki: Söyleyin bakalım; eğer Allah geceyi üzerinize kesintisiz (sermed) kılacak olsa..." [28:71], ardından da: "...gündüzü kesintisiz (sermed) kılsa..." [28:72].
