قال تعالى: تولوا وأعينهم تفيض من الدمع حزنا [التوبة/ 92]. فالدمع يكون اسما للسائل من العين، ومصدر دمعت العين دمعا ودمعانا.

Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "...gözleri, üzüntüden dolayı yaşla dolup taşarak dönüp giderler" [9:92]. "ed-Dem'" (دمع), hem gözden akan (yaş/sıvı) için bir isim olur, hem de "deme'ati'l-ayn (göz yaşardı)" fiilinin mastarıdır: "dem'an" ve "deme'ânen" (şeklinde gelir).
