Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.

Other messengers were disbelieved before you, and they bore their rejection and persecution steadfastly until Our aid arrived- no one can alter God’s promises. You have already received accounts of these messengers.

Messengers indeed have been denied before thee, and they were patient under the denial and the persecution till Our succour reached them. There is none to alter the decisions of Allah. Already there hath reached thee (somewhat) of the tidings of the messengers (We sent before).

ولقد كذَّب الكفارُ رسلا من قبلك أرسلهم الله تعالى إلى أممهم وأوذوا في سبيله، فصبروا على ذلك ومضوا في دعوتهم وجهادهم حتى أتاهم نصر الله. ولا مبدل لكلمات الله، وهي ما أنزل على نبيه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم مِن وعده إياه بالنصر على مَن عاداه. ولقد جاءك -أيها الرسول- مِن خبر مَن كان قبلك من الرسل، وما تحقق لهم من نصر الله، وما جرى على مكذبيهم من نقمة الله منهم وغضبه عليهم، فلك فيمن تقدم من الرسل أسوة وقدوة. وفي هذا تسلية للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم.
