Ey inananlar! Benim de düşmanım, sizin de düşmanınız olanları dost edinmeyin. Onlar, size gelen gerçeği inkar etmişken, onlara sevgi gösteriyorsunuz; oysa onlar, Rabbiniz olan Allah'a inandığınızdan ötürü sizi ve Peygamberi yurdunuzdan çıkarıyorlar. Eğer sizler Benim yolumda savaşmak ve rızamı kazanmak için çıkmışsanız onlara nasıl sevgi gösterirsiniz? Ben, sizin gizlediğinizi de, açığa vurduğunuzu da bilirim. İçinizden onlara sevgi gösteren kimse, şüphesiz doğru yoldan sapmıştır.

Ey inananlar! Benim de düşmanım, sizin de düşmanınız olan kimseleri dost edinmeyin. Onlar size gelen gerçeği inkar ettikleri, Rabbiniz Allah'a inandığınızdan dolayı Resulü ve sizi (yurdunuzdan sürüp) çıkardıkları halde siz onlara sevgi ulaştırıyorsunuz. Eğer benim yolumda savaşmak ve benim rızamı kazanmak için çıktınızsa içinizde onlara sevgi mi gizliyorsunuz? Oysa ben sizin gizlediğiniz ve açığa vurduğunuz her şeyi bilirim. Sizden kim bunu yaparsa doğru yoldan sapmış olur.

Ey iman edenler! Onlar size gelen gerçeği inkâr etmişlerken, Rabbiniz Allah’a imanınızdan dolayı Elçi'yi de sizi de (yurdunuzdan) çıkarıyorken, benim de düşmanım, sizin de düşmanınız olanlara (o kafirlere) içten sevgi besleyerek onları (sakın) dostlar edinmeyin! Benim yolumda cihad etmek (fedakârlık yapmak) ve rızamı kazanmak için (yurdunuzdan) çıktığınız hâlde, (hâlâ) onlara içten sevgi (mi) gizliyorsunuz (besliyorsunuz)! Ben sizin gizlediğinizi de açığa vurduğunuzu da çok iyi bilenim. Sizden kim bunu yaparsa (onları dost edinirse), elbette doğru yoldan sapmış olur.

O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.

You who believe, do not take My enemies and yours as your allies, showing them friendship when they have rejected the truth you have received, and have driven you and the Messenger out simply because you believe in God, your Lord––not if you truly emigrated in order to strive for My cause and seek My good pleasure. O ye who believe! Choose not My enemy and your enemy for allies. Do ye give them friendship when they disbelieve in that truth which hath come unto you, driving out the messenger and you because ye believe in Allah, your Lord? O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies, extending to them affection while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth, having driven out the Prophet and yourselves [only] because you believe in Allāh, your Lord. If you have come out for jihād [i.e., fighting or striving] in My cause and seeking means to My approval, [take them not as friends]. You confide to them affection [i.e., instruction], but I am most knowing of what you have concealed and what you have declared. And whoever does it among you has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way.

يا أيها الذين صدَّقوا الله ورسوله وعملوا بشرعه، لا تتخذوا عدوي وعدوكم خلصاء وأحباء، تُفْضون إليهم بالمودة، فتخبرونهم بأخبار الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم، وسائر المسلمين، وهم قد كفروا بما جاءكم من الحق من الإيمان بالله ورسوله وما نزل عليه من القرآن، يخرجون الرسول ويخرجونكم- أيها المؤمنون- من "مكة"؛ لأنكم تصدقون بالله ربكم، وتوحدونه، إن كنتم- أيها المؤمنون- هاجرتم مجاهدين في سبيلي، طالبين مرضاتي عنكم، فلا توالوا أعدائي وأعداءكم، تُفْضون إليهم بالمودة سرًّا، وأنا أعلم بما أخفيتم وما أظهرتم، ومن يفعل ذلك منكم فقد أخطأ طريق الحق والصواب، وضلَّ عن قصد السبيل.
