ومن أهل الكتاب من اليهود مَن إنْ تأمنه على كثير من المال يؤدِّه إليك من غير خيانة، ومنهم مَن إنْ تأمنه على دينار واحد لا يؤدِّه اليك، إلا إذا بذلت غاية الجهد في مطالبته. وسبب ذلك عقيدة فاسدة تجعلهم يستحلُّون أموال العرب بالباطل، ويقولون: ليس علينا في أكل أموالهم إثم ولا حرج؛ لأن الله أحلَّها لنا. وهذا كذب على الله، يقولونه بألسنتهم، وهم يعلمون أنهم كاذبون.

Kitap ehli arasında kantarla emanet bıraksan onu sana ödeyen ve bir lira emanet etsen, tepesine dikilmedikçe onu sana ödemeyen vardır. Bu, onların: "Kitapsızlara karşı üzerimize bir sorumluluk yoktur" demelerindendir. Onlar bile bile Allah'a karşı yalan söylemektedirler.

Kitap ehlinden öylesi vardır ki, ona yüklerle mal emanet etsen, onu sana eksiksiz iade eder. Fakat öylesi de vardır ki, ona bir dinar emanet etsen, tepesine dikilip durmadıkça onu sana iade etmez. Bu da onların, "Ümmîlere karşı yaptıklarımızdan bize vebal yoktur." demelerinden dolayıdır. Ve onlar, bile bile Allah'a karşı yalan söylerler.

Bunun sebebi, “Ümmilere karşı (yaptıklarımızdan dolayı) bize hiçbir yol (sorumluluk) yoktur.” demeleridir. Onlar Allah hakkında bilerek yalan söylüyorlar.

Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a hoard of gold, will (readily) pay it back; others, who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless thou constantly stoodest demanding, because, they say, "there is no call on us (to keep faith) with these ignorant (Pagans)." but they tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it.

Among the People of the Scripture there is he who, if thou trust him with a weight of treasure, will return it to thee. And among them there is he who, if thou trust him with a piece of gold, will not return it to thee unless thou keep standing over him. That is because they say: We have no duty to the Gentiles. They speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly.
