Sonra siz, birbirinizi öldüren, aranızdan bir takımı memleketlerinden süren, onlara karşı günah ve düşmanlıkta birleşen, onları çıkarmak haramken size esir olarak geldiklerinde fidyelerini vermeye kalkan kimselersiniz. Kitabın bir kısmına inanıp, bir kısmını inkar mı ediyorsunuz? Aranızda böyle yapanın cezası ancak dünya hayatında rezil olmaktır. Ahiret gününde de azabın en şiddetlisine onlar uğratılırlar. Allah yaptıklarınızdan gafil değildir.

Sonra sizler öyle kimselersiniz ki, kendilerinizi öldürüyorsunuz ve sizden olan bir grubu diyarlarından çıkarıyorsunuz, onlar aleyhinde kötülük ve düşmanlık güdüyor ve bu konuda birleşip birbirinize arka çıkıyorsunuz, şayet size esir olarak gelirlerse fidyeleşmeye kalkıyorsunuz. Halbuki yurtlarından çıkarılmaları size haram kılınmış idi. Yoksa siz kitabın bir kısmına inanıp bir kısmını inkâr mı ediyorsunuz? Şu halde içinizden böyle yapanlar, netice olarak dünya hayatında perişanlıktan başka ne kazanırlar, kıyamet gününde de en şiddetli azaba uğratılırlar. Allah, yaptıklarınızdan gafil değildir.

After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

If they come to you as captives, you still pay to set them free, although you had no right to drive them out. So do you believe in some parts of the Scripture and not in others? ثم أنتم يا هؤلاء يقتل بعضكم بعضًا، ويُخرج بعضكم بعضًا من ديارهم، ويَتَقَوَّى كل فريق منكم على إخوانه بالأعداء بغيًا وعدوانًا. وأن يأتوكم أسارى في يد الأعداء سعيتم في تحريرهم من الأسر، بدفع الفدية، مع أنه محرم عليكم إخراجهم من ديارهم. ما أقبح ما تفعلون حين تؤمنون ببعض أحكام التوراة وتكفرون ببعضها! فليس جزاء مَن يفعل ذلك منكم إلا ذُلا وفضيحة في الدنيا. ويوم القيامة يردُّهم الله إلى أفظع العذاب في النار. وما الله بغافل عما تعملون.
