ولما رجع موسى إلى قومه مِن بني إسرائيل غضبان حزينًا؛ لأن الله قد أخبره أنه قد فُتِن قومه، وأن السامريَّ قد أضلَّهم، قال موسى: بئس الخلافة التي خلفتموني مِن بعدي، أعجلتم أَمْر ربكم؟ أي: أستعجلتم مجيئي إليكم وهو مقدَّر من الله تعالى؟ وألقى موسى ألواح التوراة غضبا على قومه الذين عبدوا العجل، وغضبًا على أخيه هارون، وأمسك برأس أخيه يجره إليه، قال هارون مستعطفًا: يا ابن أمي: إن القوم استذلوني وعدُّوني ضعيفًا وقاربوا أن يقتلوني، فلا تَسرَّ الأعداء بما تفعل بي، ولا تجعلني في غضبك مع القوم الذين خالفوا أمرك وعبدوا العجل.

Musa, milletine, kızgın ve üzgün olarak dönünce "Benim arkamdan ne kötü olmuşsunuz! Rabbinizin emrinin çabucak gelmesini mi istiyorsunuz?" dedi, levhaları attı ve kardeşinin başından tutup kendine doğru çekti. Harun: "Ey annem oğlu! Bu millet beni küçümsedi; az kalsın öldürüyorlardı. Bana, düşmanları sevindirecek şekilde davranma, beni bu zalim milletle bir sayma" dedi.

Musa, öfkeli ve üzüntülü olarak kavmine döndüğünde şöyle dedi: "Bana arkamdan ne kötü bir halef oldunuz! Rabbinizin emriyle dönüşümü beklemeden acele mi ettiniz?" Elindeki levhaları bıraktı ve kardeşi Harun'u başından tutarak kendine doğru çekmeye başladı. Harun, "Ey anamın oğlu!" dedi, "inan ki, bu kavim beni güçsüz buldu, az daha beni öldürüyorlardı, sen de bana böyle yaparak düşmanları sevindirme ve beni bu zalim kavimle bir tutma."

Rabbinizin emrini (beklemeden) acele ettiniz, öyle mi?” deyip (Tevrat) levhaları(nı yere) bırakmış ve kardeşinin başını tutup kendine doğru çekmeye (silkelemeye) başlamıştı. Harun şöyle demişti: “Ey annemin oğlu! Bu toplum beni cidden zayıf gördü (bana baskı yaptılar), neredeyse beni öldüreceklerdi. Sen de (onları sevindirircesine) düşmanları bana güldürme ve beni bu zalim toplumla bir tutma!”

When Moses came back to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Evil it is that ye have done in my place in my absence: did ye make haste to bring on the judgment of your Lord?" He put down the tablets, seized his brother by (the hair of) his head, and dragged him to him. Aaron said: "Son of my mother! the people did indeed reckon me as naught, and went near to slaying me! Make not the enemies rejoice over my misfortune, nor count thou me amongst the people of sin."

On his return to his people, angry and aggrieved, Moses said, ‘How foul and evil is what you have done in my absence! Were you so keen to bring your Lord’s judgement forward?’ He threw the tablets down and seized his brother by the hair, pulling him towards him. Aaron said, ‘Son of my mother, these people overpowered me! They almost killed me! Do not give my enemies reason to rejoice! Do not include me with these evildoers!’

And when Moses returned unto his people, angry and grieved, he said: Evil is that (course) which ye took after I had left you. Would ye hasten on the judgment of your Lord? And he cast down the tablets, and he seized his brother by the head, dragging him toward him. He said: Son of my mother! Lo! the folk did judge me weak and almost killed me. Oh, make not mine enemies to triumph over me and place me not among the evil-doers.

And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, indeed the people overpowered me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people."
