قد نرى تحوُّل وجهك -أيها الرسول- في جهة السماء، مرة بعد مرة؛ انتظارًا لنزول الوحي إليك في شأن القبلة، فلنصرفنك عن "بيت المقدس" إلى قبلة تحبها وترضاها، وهي وجهة المسجد الحرام بـ "مكة"، فولِّ وجهك إليها. وفي أي مكان كنتم -أيها المسلمون- وأردتم الصلاة فتوجهوا نحو المسجد الحرام. وإن الذين أعطاهم الله علم الكتاب من اليهود والنصارى لَيعلمون أن تحويلك إلى الكعبة هو الحق الثابت في كتبهم. وما الله بغافل عما يعمل هؤلاء المعترضون المشككون، وسيجازيهم على ذلك.

Yüzünü göğe çevirip durduğunu görüyoruz. Hoşnud olacağın kıbleye seni elbette çevireceğiz. Artık yüzünü Mescid-i Haram semtine çevir; bulunduğunuz yerde yüzlerinizi o yöne çevirin. Doğrusu Kitap verilenler, bunun Rab'lerinden bir gerçek olduğunu bilirler. Allah onların yaptıklarından gafil değildir.

Doğrusu, biz, yüzünün semaya yöneldiğini, orada şekilden şekile geçerek, aranıp durduğunu görüyorduk. Artık seni hoşnud olacağın bir kıbleye çevireceğiz. Haydi bakalım, yüzünü Mescidi Haram'a doğru çevir. Siz de ey müminler, nerede olursanız olun, yüzünüzü o tarafa doğru çevirin! Kendilerine kitap verilmiş olanlar da kesinlikle bilirler ki, Rabblerinden gelen o emir haktır. Ve Allah, onların yaptıklarından ve yapmakta olduklarından gafil değildir.

We see the turning of thy face (for guidance to the heavens: now Shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do.

Many a time We have seen you [Prophet] turn your face towards Heaven, so We are turning you towards a prayer direction that pleases you. We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muḥammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased.
